Volunteer and Get Involved!

FRCA is an all-volunteer organization and you can get involved! We have many projects for volunteers throughout the year.

Current volunteer needs:

Earth Day volunteers: volunteer for Earth Day events on April 22 and educate our community about water issues. Contact Soos Weber for details.

Drinking Water Festival Volunteers: The Madison County Drinking Water Festival educates children about surface and groundwater through fun enlightening hands-on activities. Sign up as a volunteer for the event on May 6-7.

Newsletter editor or assistant editor. Help put our newsletter together every two months. It's a fun job! Contact Allison Bolhman for details.

Examples of some of our ongoing projects include:

  • River cleanups: We have two officials river cleanups every year. Check our "Events" page for details.
  • Purple loosestrife spraying: this is an ongoing projects from spring through fall. It's a great way to contribute to our watershed and to meet other volunteers.
  • River Guardians: Learn how to monitor our local waterways and report situations that are making our rivers and streams muddy (very bad for river wildlife!).
  • Alabama Water Watch volunteer water monitors: We hold AWW certification classes once a year. Water monitoring is very beneficial to making sure we know the water quality is our watershed.
  • Plus much more! If you have an interest or talent, we can find a match for you!

Do you want to get involved? Just come to one of our meetings or contact a Board Member for more information.
